Religious traditions span the world and have their regional twists. To use up their lard, sugar, fat and butter before the start of Lent, the Pennsylvania Dutch found a tasty solution. Whether you choose plain fasnachts or powdered with table sugar or confectioner's sugar, you're sure to celebrate their culinary inventinveness. This year Fasnacht Day falls on Tuesday, February 21, but February 6 through 21, you can order Bird-in-Hand Bakery's delicious, freshly baked fasnachts by calling (717) 768-1501.

Bird-in-Hand Volunteer Fire Company, our community heros, will host their 13th annual Lancaster County Carriage & Antique Auction Friday, June 29. Events will continue throughout the day with sales of harness and tack, miniature horses and ponies, crafts, carriages, buggies, wagons, shurbs, flowers and nursery items.
